We Are Knitters Danko Scarf

We Are Knitters recently dropped their new crochet pattern and kit collection, and it is HOT! The patterns are all modern, on the minimalist side, and absolutely gorgeous.

I had the opportunity to try out the Danko Scarf kit, and it didn’t disappoint. With 3 balls of The Cotton, a 5mm hook, and a tapestry needle, the kit came with everything needed to crochet a beautiful and hip scarf.

Cotton yarn

During my time as a crocheter, I have sampled numerous cotton yarns of all weights and styles. I have my favorites, which is perhaps a topic for another post, and The Cotton is among them. It’s extraordinarily soft, light, and lofty, and works up with beautiful stitch definition. It also holds together well when working with it, and does not tend to split.  It’s perfect for summer garments, and for chic accesssories, like crocheted bags.

The Danko Scarf is incredibly easy to hook up, and once I got into the rhythm of the pattern, the stitches flowed off of my hook with ease.

One of the things that I like the most about this pattern is that it’s a wonderful demonstration of the ways in which very simple stitch patterns can work up into gorgeous fabrics. The Danko Scarf is perfect for beginning crocheters; the pattern includes both written instructions and a chart.

Crochet scarf progress
It took me less than a week to crochet this beautiful scarf. If I had had uninterrupted time to work on it, I probably could have finished it up in a couple of days. And here’s the final result: a fresh, trendy scarf that is both super soft and cool to the touch, making it the perfect summer accessory!

This was my first time working with The Cotton, but I’m sure it won’t be the last! I’m already dreaming up other projects – blankets and scarves – to take advantage of this lightweight, soft, and luxurious feeling cotton.
